Journey through 2022

It's, 2022 and just entered a phase called "public service". Yeah, as the name suggests "in the service of public". So, it has lot to do with the people. It all started with a 'tutoring project' on 'how', 'when', 'why' and 'what'. 'How' here meant the way of dealing with things we encounter, 'when' means the right time to deal so that benefit penetrates to the last person(antyodaya), 'why' states the reason to reach out to deprived and needy and 'what' means the benefit itself. This 'tutoring project' or training has held at HCM, RIPA(The training institute for premier services of Rajasthan). Many learnings came across my path directly and indirectly. Many new, young and ignited brains paved my way. People woth similar interests were introduced. First of all, a brick was laid through foundation course with multiple services learning and practising coordination together, giving t

Interview preparation- Do's and Don't's

Do's: 1. Make your mind ready to face any sort of question, that question can be from your background or can be anything else you don't know. 2. Take a chill pill - why to worry? It's just a conversation. 3. Be specific - Whatever question is being asked, stick to the question. 4. Dress and looks - Look like an "officer". For girls, it's not necessary that you wear a saree. Be decent in looks. Be simple and sober. 5. Knowledge is power - Read and retain. Understand things and try to implement as an "officer" in your answers. Read current affairs thoroughly.  6. Language is not a barrier- As I always say, language is not a hurdle. Speak in the language you are comfortable.  7. Mirror practice- It definitely helps. Don't's: 1. Everything under the sun is not to be read. Segregate into following heads: a). Background- Hometown, education etc. b). Hobbies c). Achievements/talents d). Situation based questions e). Current affairs  f). Misc things

Busting myths

Myths related to RAS exam 1. Reading many books Limit your resources. That's the only key to success. Don't go for every book available in the market. Limit your resources for current affairs as well. Standard books+NCERTs+RBSE books are sufficient. For quick revision & value addition one can refer any coaching notes. 2. Coaching is compulsory Not at all. To be very honest, I have taken coaching because I was confused & needed guidance. It's not mandatory. You can crack it by self study too. 3. Study for 14-16 hours a day You don't have to study for long hours. I believe studying 5-6 hours is sufficient. When the prelims/mains is just 1-2 months away, one can study for 10-12 hours with adequate amount of sleep. 4. Using complicated language in mains answer writing A big no! Use simple language with essential keywords & facts. Using complicated words or language might confuse the examiner. Focus on presentation & try to understand the question. Note

Some tips for aspirants

1. Group study exclusively for answer checking, discussion, interview preparation & no gossiping. 2. For 4th paper, write one essay/letter/tender/official letter etc everyday & get it checked by your mentor or group members. 3. For answer writing, practice 3-4 questions everyday apart from test series. 4. Make short notes with only facts written in them. 5. While reading newspaper, you don't have to read everything but you don't have to leave anything which is important. 6. Keep syllabus open in front of you while studying so that you don't get diverted. 7. Don't make notes during first reading.
